ABOUT
BUILDING WEALTH DOESN’T REQUIRE A FINANCE DEGREE.
YOU JUST NEED THE RIGHT PLACE TO LEARN.
If the financial industry feels confusing, that is a teaching problem not a user problem. The traditional financial world was never built with everyday women in mind, often leaving them feeling left out or unwelcome.
Founded by public school educator Sara Harrington, B.Ed., Her Money House applies 15+ years of classroom expertise to personal finance. We provide a safe, jargon-free space for Canadian women to confidently master money basics.
HER MONEY HOUSE
The Story Behind
Adulthood is just an endless stream of bills. Growing up middle-class in Winnipeg, money wasn’t a formal topic for Sara. Like most young adults, she spent years just trying to keep up with student loans, car expenses, and everyday life. Investing felt like a different world, so she did what most people do: she hired a standard wealth management firm to handle what little was leftover, blindly trusting a confusing annual statement she didn’t actually understand.
Becoming completely obsessed. Everything changed when she bought her first home and realized how expensive homeownership truly is. Craving security for the biggest expense of her life, she went looking for answers. She dove deep into the personal finance community—reading the books, taking courses, and even working as a bookkeeper to see how numbers work behind the scenes. What she discovered was a relief: managing money is embarrassingly simple once you strip away the complex, high-fee products big firms use to keep people dependent. By following basic, unsexy habits on a fixed middle-class paycheck, the habits worked exactly as promised—allowing her to reach Coast FI and a net worth over half a million dollars by age 40.
Women and money. Sara started talking to other women about finances, and they began asking for help. But watching women encounter their numbers for the very first time during an intense life transition—like a separation, job loss, starting a family, or purchasing a home—is what changed everything. Trying to figure out a new financial reality in the middle of a major life upheaval is incredibly hard to do. Women deserve a comfortable space to learn a few basic skills and set up an easy system before life forces the issue.
THE HER MONEY HOUSE APPROACH
15 Years of Teaching Experience: Everyone learns differently. Meeting people exactly where they are isn’t just a philosophy—it is the entire framework.
A Fairer System: Traditional financial spaces push heavy, hidden mutual fund fees that pull everyday families backward. We expose the simple alternatives.
A Human First Focus: Financial decisions are driven by emotions, family history, and lived experiences. We address the human side of money before the technical side.
Financial confidence is not innate, it’s learned.
You are not “bad at money.” You were just never properly taught. When women understand how money works and why certain decisions matter, they become better equipped to ask questions, weigh options, and fully participate in their own financial lives.
Money is human before it’s technical.
Money decisions are shaped by emotions, behaviours, values, family history, and lived experience. The goal isn’t to remove emotion from money. It’s to understand it, work with it, and build a system that supports your actual life.
Simple, long-term thinking beats complexity.
Wealth is built over time, not overnight. Most people don’t need more complexity. They need clear information, steady habits, and systems they can repeat.
